/></a>On July 15, <a href=Earlier this month, the Society of News Design decided to make a statement on the state of the industry in response to Gannett’s recent consolidation plans.  Later, ACES decided to follow suit.

The SND thing got me a little fired up about the organization as a whole, and it’s not the first time.  So, despite being swamped that Friday, I carved out a little time to process what I read. And yes, I posted some comments — which I stand by — about things I’ve been hoping to see out of the organization. Things I’ve been waiting for. Things I could use and pass along to staff: advice, support, training. I thought if I got it all out of my system, I could return my focus to work — weekend prep and all that.

No dice.

I stewed. I festered. And then… clarity:

Maybe these organizations I’ve been trying to turn to just don’t know exactly HOW to help… what to say… what to suggest… what to offer. And for as much I believe they will have something to offer at some point down the road, I can’t wait for them. I have to act now. I have to do for me and mine.

And so begins “Beyond Tetris” …
